Obesity Journal Club

The Obesity Journal Club will meet on Tuesday, November 15th from 12-1pm in M&V 240 at Tufts (Health Sciences Campus, 136 Harrison Ave).

Rachel Bleiweiss-Sande MS, PhD Candidate and Nutrition and Citizenship Fellow in the Nutrition Interventions, Communication and Behavior Change Program at Tufts, will present and facilitate a discussion of 'Association Between Cesarean Birth and Risk of Obesity in Offspring in Childhood, Adolescence, and Early Adulthood', by Yuan et al., recently published in JAMA Pediatrics, Nov 2016; 170(11):e162385.

Faculty and students in the greater Boston area are welcome to attend and present. Those interested in participating may come to Tufts or join the discussion in a webinar style format by dialing in via WebEx. If you would like to receive a PDF of the article that will be discussed and/or a WebEx invitation, please email sarah.phillips@tufts.edu.

The Obesity Journal Club is a program of the Boston Nutrition Obesity Research Center (BNORC). Aviva Must serves as faculty facilitator. The general format includes the presentation, critique, and (we hope) thoughtful discussion of a current article from the peer-reviewed obesity literature. Faculty and students in the greater Boston area are welcome to attend and present. It is also possible to connect by teleconference. Announcements for each meeting will come ~1 week in advance and specify the paper we will review and critique. The general format includes the presentation, critique, and (we hope) thoughtful discussion of a current article from the peer-reviewed obesity literature. For those at Tufts, light snacks are served (please bring your own beverage). Journal Club will meet from 12-1 on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from September to May.

Obesity Journal Club is participatory. We will ask for volunteers to sign up and present an article of their choice at future meetings. Assistance in selecting an article for presentation is available. This is a great opportunity for students to develop presentation skills in a friendly low-risk environment.
